1 The Story

A simple trend line that traveled the world

Olivier Seban created the Supertrend indicator around 2000 — a clean, ATR-based line that flips with the trend and is now a default on nearly every charting platform.

Seban is a French trader, investor, and author. He designed Supertrend to mark trend changes and time entries and exits, describing it in his book Tout le monde mérite d’être riche (“Everybody Deserves to be Rich”). The indicator is a trailing line set a multiple of ATR from price.1
